Benjamin loves Caillou

Okay for some reason, all my kids have loved the TV show Caillou. Right now, it is Benjamin's favorite show. It is actually kind of a weird show...first of all, the little boy's name is Caillou??? And if that isn't weird enough, he is also very winey and bald. However, my kids all seem to love him!

Anyway, I just had to laugh today while Ben and I were watching it together. We'd watched about 3-4 episodes that we'd recorded on the DVR, and then Ben said, "I want to watch the naked Caillou." I said, "Wwwhat???! and I thought, "What kind of Caillou shows has he been watching?" After asking Benjamin a few more questions, I realized he wanted to watch the episode of Caillou and his friends playing outside in their swimsuits.

That is his favorite episode now and several times today he's asked to watch the naked Caillou. It just makes a weird show even weirder now!

Welcome sweet little Jacob Glen!

On Saturday April 3, 2010, sweet little Jacob Glen Banner arrived and joined our family! He was born at 7:42 pm and weighed in at 7 lbs. 13 oz. and was 19 1/2" long.

He has a TON of light brown hair and is such a sweet little boy. He was born at the new Intermountain Riverton hospital, which is about 1/2 mile from our house. It was so nice.

The kids just LOVE him! Tyler and Brooklyn want to hold him any chance they get. They would hold him for hours if I let them. They have been a big help to me. Brooklyn loves to get Jacob dressed and pick out outfits for him. She also loves to help me give him baths. She is a natural little mother.

Derek loves Jacob too, but isn't quite as obsessed as the other kids. He loves to hold him and thinks he is so cute. When the kids first came to the hospital to see me and meet their new brother, the first thing Derek said was, "Are his cheeks as squishy as mine?" I said, "No, not quite." and he said, "oh good, I was afraid his would be squishier." So sweet. I've always loved to kiss and "eat" Derek's cheeks...he is very cheeky...in more ways than one ;-)

Benjamin has kind of a love/hate relationship with the baby. He loves to give him hugs and kisses and he'll often say "I love him!" Also, whenever Jacob cries, Benjamin usually runs over and comforts him and says, "oh baby Jake". It's sweet. However, many times when I'm holding or feeding the baby, Ben will say, "put him down" or say "hold me", which breaks my heart. Also the other day, Ben said, "Put Jake in his car seat." When I asked him why, he said "I want him to go bye-bye." "I'm mad at him." It was funny and sad at the same time. I know Benjamin will enjoy Jacob a little more when he grows up a bit and I'm sure they will be best buddies someday.

Anyway, I thought I would post some pictures of this new little guy before he grows up too much! So, here they are (there's a lot)...

Kev and baby Jake...just a few minutes old

Baby Jacob...one day old

One day old...I love the sweet little "Jacob" name tag that the nurses made

These are some scary, haggard pictures of me and baby

Getting ready to go home from the hospital...

Baby Jake...4 days old. We had just given him a bath and Kevin styled his hair. He looks all grown up!

All 5 kids!

Kevin holding Jacob in the "dad hold". This hold has been so awesome with all of our kids and always seems to get them to stop crying!

Baby Jacob and his BIG brother Ben! This picture makes Benjamin look HUGE!

Sweet baby...about a week old.

Well that is an update on our ever-changing lives! We'll keep you posted!
