Last night was a very long night! For some reason Benjamin decided to wake up at 2:00 AM to PLAY! It was very strange...he usually sleeps really well all night, and if he does wake up he usually goes back to sleep easily.
I woke up hearing his "talking" and happy sounds over the baby monitor. At first I thought it was cute and I thought he would just go back to sleep, but after a little while I went in there to check it out. He was playing with a little Hot Wheels car in his crib!? Soooo...I took the car, laid him down and said "Ni-night". I was hoping that would be the end of it....
He continued to talk and then fuss and then cry for an HOUR! I went in there about 3-4 more times to lay him down. I was so TIRED! Finally the last time I went in, I laid him down and just said, "Lay down....ni-night...no crying" quite firmly. Derek (who shares a room with him) said in a very sleepy voice, "Mom, that is a terrible way to treat a baby!" I had to laugh at that. ;-) He had no idea how long it had gone on...I'm glad Derek was able to sleep through most of it.
Well at this point, I brought Derek into our bed so he could sleep. Benjamin seemed to go back to sleep....but....he woke up AGAIN at 4:00 AM doing the same thing! I was so deliriously tired at this point that I put Derek back in his bed and put Ben in our bed. I was hoping he would just snuggle up and go to sleep. No. He proceeded to climb and sit on me and Kevin. He also gave us lots of "loves", which made it hard to be mad at him. I decided to turn on Sponge Bob to see if he would calm down. Didn't work. Finally around 5:00, I brought him back in his crib and said "NI-NIGHT" for the last time! He did go to sleep...only to wake up at 7:30 AM for the day! It's now almost lunch time and he doesn't seem tired at all....but I am dying! I hope to get a little nap soon. Ben's lucky he's so darn cute...

College Friends Reunion!
On June 26th and 27th we had a College friends reunion and it was SO FUN! While I was going to school at UVSC, my friends and I hung out with a group of guys in our ward who were like our brothers. We had so much fun together, hanging out, going out, and doing pranks on each other. We hadn't seen most of them in about 13 years, so we felt a reunion was well overdue! Most of us are in Utah, but Dave traveled from Texas and Pat traveled from Washington. Damon (who is in Florida) was the only one who couldn't make it.
On Friday night we went to Los Hermanos Mexican Restaurant in Provo and then went over to our old Raintree Apartments. My friends and I knocked on our old apartment (#201) and were able to look around for a bit! It was CRAZY to be there again! We went over to the guys apartment too, but they didn't want to knock! We all felt very OLD wandering around the apartment complex. ;-) Afterward, we all came over to my house and hung out and relived the old days.
On Saturday, we went up to Ali's house in Kaysville with all our kids. We had pizza and hung out together. It was so great to reconnect...I hope it's not 13 more years until the next one!

Ben's new "accessory"...
The other day, Brooklyn and her cousins were playing with the Halloween costumes. Benjamin quickly became attached to the Zorro hat. He wore it all night and part of the next day! Too funny!
The Sawtooth Relay
On June 12th and 13th, Kev and I went up to Idaho to run in the Sawtooth Relay race! Kev's family has run this race the past three years, but it was my first time. We had three teams of six people who ran plus a couple extra who helped volunteer. We had so much fun!
We left Friday morning and enjoyed the nice quiet drive up (sans kids!). We camped in Stanley, ID and had a fun time having dinner and spending time with Kev's family. However, by the time we set up camp and got things ready for the race, we didn't get to sleep until 12:30! We woke up around 1:30 (and that hour of sleep was pretty lame I might add) so that we could be ready for our start time of 2:45 AM!!!! Holy COW!
We arrived at the starting line and we were so excited! Our team consisted of me and Kev, our nieces Andrea, Stacie, and Angie (who was 5 months pregnant!), and Camilla (Angie's sister-in-law). We were all pumped up!
Our team ran a total of 61.9 miles. I ran the 2nd and 8th legs and Kev ran the 5th and 11th legs. We ran about 11 miles each. My first leg started around 3:45 am. It was so strange to run in the middle of the night and in the middle of nowhere! It was a surreal experience. There weren't too many runners on the road either...I could see one way ahead of me and one behind me and that was it. I hoped I was going the right way and I hoped a wild animal wouldn't eat me. It was cool though.
My second leg and both of Kev's legs were in the pouring rain! Yee-haw! I REALLY didn't feel like running that second leg at all. I was so tired and wet and the last thing I felt like doing was running...but I did it and it was (sort of) fun! After the race, Kev and I were so beat! I felt like I could sleep for days! It was so much fun though and so awesome to experience it with family!

Benjamin's Favorite Book
I went to the library with the kids and as usual, we brought home a TON of books! Tyler and Brooklyn love reading and I love reading all the picture books to the kids too.
Benjamin quickly became attached to one book in particular. It's called "Whose Nose" by Jeannette Rowe. Every time we read books together, he would bring that book to me and say "nose". He wanted to read it again and again, but sadly I finally had to bring it back to the library (after I already renewed it twice!) I think I will have to buy that book.

A day at the "beach"
I took the kids over the the "beach" at Daybreak in South Jordan. We'd never been there before and we had so much fun!
Brooklyn and Derek loved swimming and jumping from the dock...
Random Pictures from June
Well, just like the title says, these are a bunch of "Random Pictures from June"...
After church one day, Kev and I took a little nap. We told the big kids to play quietly. When we woke up, this is what Brooklyn looked like! She had fun painting her face (with her play makeup) like a dog or cat...or whatever! I guess she WAS playing quietly though. I thought it was funny.

Kev and Ben, taking a Sunday nap. Benjamin reminded me of a little puppy...all snuggled up. So sweet.

Ben was so worn out at church one day...I spent most of Relief Society in the hall. I was glad I had my camera with me though. Benjamin enjoyed looking at all the pictures...Cheap entertainment!

One day I was cleaning the kitchen and for some reason, I thought it would be a great idea to put Ben in his highchair and give him a fudgesicle to keep him happy. Well, it DID keep him happy, but I couldn't believe what a mess he made!!!! (You really need to click on these pictures to get the full "effect"!)
